Cookie Policy
Effective date: October 22, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how incight.org (the “Site”), operated by INCIGHT, a U.S. nonprofit organization headquartered in Portland, Oregon, uses cookies and similar technologies, and how you can control them. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. Related technologies, including local storage and session storage, let a site keep information in your browser in a similar way. Together they let a site remember things between pages and visits, and let its operators measure how the site is used.
What we use, and why
Analytics — Google Analytics 4. We use Google Analytics to see how many people visit the Site, which pages they read, how they found us, and what works and what does not. The Google tag on this Site uses the measurement ID G-V1DWSJNZL2 and sets cookies named _ga and _ga_<container>, which distinguish one visitor from another and persist for up to two years. The information is used in aggregate; we do not use it to identify you personally.
Your preferences — stored in your browser, not as cookies. If you change the accessibility settings on the Site, that choice is saved in your browser’s local storage. If you dismiss an announcement banner, that is saved in session storage and cleared when you close the browser. Both stay on your device and are never sent to us.
Embedded video. Some pages embed video hosted by a third-party video platform. When one of those videos loads or plays, that platform may set its own cookies and receive information about your visit, under its own policies rather than ours. If you do not play the videos, those cookies are not set by anything we control.
Essential. Our hosting and content delivery providers may set cookies strictly necessary to serve the Site securely and reliably. These cannot be switched off without breaking the Site.
What we do not use
We do not place advertising or retargeting cookies on this Site, and we do not use cookies to build advertising profiles or to sell information about you. We run search advertising through the Google Ad Grants program for nonprofits, which reports on advertising performance in aggregate; it does not add advertising cookies to this Site.
How to control cookies
Every major browser lets you see the cookies a site has set, delete them, and block some or all of them. Those controls are usually under Settings, in a section called Privacy, Security, or Site data. Blocking all cookies may affect how this and other websites work.
To opt out of Google Analytics specifically, you can install the browser add-on Google publishes for that purpose, or block the analytics cookies above in your browser settings. Most browsers also offer a private or incognito window, which discards cookies and storage when you close it.
You can clear the accessibility and banner preferences described above by clearing site data for this Site in your browser.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Policy as the Site changes. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page.
