What have you learned so far in your internship at OHSU this summer? I have learned a lot about database work. Outside of tech work, I have learned how to get along better with my coworkers and participate in meetings even though I really don't know all the things they are talking about.

What is the best part of your internship? The best part of my internship is probably the fact that I get to learn about things I never even understood. I never knew that they would have to plan events years in advanced. They are starting projects that are going “live” in two to three years from now. I never knew that they would have to test things for that long and expect lots of errors.

What advice would you give students who are interested in doing an internship? Some advice I'd give students would be take interest in your job even if you don't quite understand it. Also participate in your work and enjoy learning. I have really enjoyed working up at OHSU. The people treat you with such respect.

How do you think your internship has prepared you for your sophomore year? I think that it has taught me patience. Since there are so many error messages I have learned to take things slow and keep trying different alternative ways to try and figure them out. I think this will help me a lot in the next year or so because I am still not quite sure on what career I want to follow.
